Just cooling down after a great trip to Texas visiting with some great agencies! We are all happy to welcome aboard Phyllis Gage as our new rep in the south! Here are a few shots of some memorable places we ate and shopped. If you are interested in genuine Texas made boots you can expect to pay about $1500.00 for them! The wall of boots can be seen below! Just last week I was at ZAP props in Chicago. It has become such a staple for me in the photographic industry. While there I ran into the guys from American Pickers who have one of primetime TV's hottest shows. They too were digging through the rubble seeking out treasures of the past.

The pedal powered airplane I scouted worked quite well with the theme and emotion of my latest image. We made a fun day of shooting and promised the young boys they could ride the plane all afternoon if they were on their best behavior. Please leave some comments on my image before you click away!

LS2 Powered SKY

Just last week a close friend of mine approached me to photograph his car. In hopes that his uniquely designed 2008 Saturn Sky powered by a Corvette LS2 was magazine worthy we set out for some fun. Im not much of a car photographer, however, I was able to figure out a recipe that would produce some nice images for him. Hope you all enjoy! Also, don't forget I will be teaching advanced portraiture at the Chicago Photography Academy this weekend and hope to see some new faces in the classroom!

Digital Lighting for Dummies

Dirk Fletcher, recently released a dummies book "Digital Photography Lighting for Dummies". Dirk used some of my images to illustrate my style of work and explained in more depth how I am creating some of my images. These informative and educational books are available online and major bookstores everywhere.

The Beginnings of a Book!

My first book is under way! The last year I have been toying with the idea to photograph antique bicycles. I got my start at www.thewheelmen.org. The president of the Illinois chapter came down to have his portrait taken with his amazing high wheel bicycle. Over the next 6 months I will attempt to capture over 60 high wheelers and safety bikes. Each individual has a unique bike with a unique story that is simply inspiring. Those who I have met thus far are amazing individuals who even have the proper period wardrobe to fit the part. Below is the first shot of Paul Schmidt, Illinois state captain of thewheelmen.org.

Well I finally got the opportunity to make it all come together. This project has been a long time in the making and I couldn't be happier with the results. Marvin was by far the best model I have ever worked with and made this production go flawlessly. Thanks to BJ's in Minocqua for the amazing bike!

Marc Hauser and Studio Fredda

The last two weeks have been exciting and quite busy. I took a gig with internationally acclaimed photographer Marc Hauser and Carol Fredda of Studiofredda.com. Together as a team we are working on some beautiful portraiture. I am looking forward to what we begin to create in the fall. Here are a few behind the scenes outtakes!

Cholera Returns!

This week I stumbled into an amazing place. The 13th Colony in Northern Wisconsin is home to some priceless American History. A business colleague of mine turned me on to the idea of scouting the facility. Once inside the establishment I knew it was only a matter of time before a great photograph would take place.

Disease and plague ran ramped throughout the 1800's in the U.S. This capture takes a sneak peek back to primitive time where diseases such as Cholera claimed the lives of many.

A huge thanks to Beth and her family as they were the best short order production crew any photographer could hope for.

My Technical Article!

This last month I was approached by Wesley Pitts, managing editor of Werner Publishing. He expressed that he would like to do a story on my technique for one of their publications, "Digital Photo Magazine". I was excited to share some tips and tricks with them to complete their annual "How To" section for their May/June issue.

I also started a spin-off business with Bruce Starrenburg of www.bstarrenburg.com Together under the name BlackStarr Photography we are committed to working in a very singular fashion in terms of the markets that we cater to. It has been a great opportunity to grow as a photographer and bring two minds to the table opposed to one!
